Google what was popular the year you were born, try and find it in re-sale, antique or re-create it yourself. If possible find the headlines of a local newspaper the day/year you were born, have them enlarged and place them in 2nd hand frames. Happy Birthday party!

Find out what the tunes were that were popular. If there was a popular rose or flower, you could mark it in a vase. A resale store might have some magazines that were popular in the early 50's that would give you some ideas

You may like to also use the food you are serving as a decoration in itself! I am currently planning a party with a centerpiece using an old punch set (hardly ever used!) I'm piling the punch bowl high with a variety of scones and filling the cups set around the bowl, with a variety of colourful jams and cream. Also tying cute labels to the cup handles with the name of the type of jam . Hope you have a lovely Birthday!
