How can I add class to resin chairs to use at a wedding?

We have a wedding coming up, and we're trying to decide whether to use the many resin chairs available for the lodge-type reception for free or to rent chairs. If there is a way to add some class to these chairs, we can spend the money saved somewhere else. Ideas?

borrow better chairs from your church. make slip covers for the backs, add a bow.

Your chairs shown in the photo can be very unstable. Better to rent more stable/sturdy chairs from the hall, which should be insured.

I would paint the four slats at the back in a metallic paint to match the wedding decor and then put a single layers of fabric onto the seat of the chair to march. If you want to spend a little more money make a soft cushion for the seat.

If your local funeral home doesn't have a service, I've found that they will loan them to you.

I would spray paint them. I've done this with resin chairs before, using a spray paint made for outdoor plastic. You could paint them to match your wedding colors.

You can rent chairs and chair covers for a reasonable price! They will be much more stable that these resin chairs! Check with a local party store or tent rental business. Also check with local wedding decorators. I hired a local wedding decorator for the reception and I bought the chair covers in the colors that matched our theme, and after the festivities the wedding decorator purchased the covers and coordinating ribbons from me! Ask around for feedback from recent brides!

Thanks for your ideas! Since the venue is rather remote and some distance from our home, we need to see what might be available near the location.

I assume the lodge is providing sturdy and safe chairs--too many possible lawsuits otherwise.

Does the lodge have pictures of other weddings that show the decor?

Ask the lodge staff to show you an example of the ceremony set up with the number of chairs for your occasion. Just arranging them "en masse" may add some dignity.

Decide what else is needed to pull guest's focus away from the chairs.

Maybe add a huge tulle bow (or swag or garland of flowers) to the arm of every aisle chair and perhaps bows and swags on the backs of the chairs in the rear row.

If budget is a concern, use decor that can double for the reception's table centerpieces...

.....hhmmmm...maybe you can use vases filled with flowers and wire them to the arms....be careful though--could end up being too heavy and tips the chair.

Pics provided by the lodge look okay, but we're concerned that the plastic look might take away something from the natural setting. As you mentioned, if we use these chairs, we'll want to pull the focus away from them.

If this is what the lodge has available I would use them. Is this for the ceremony? If so I would use the idea from above with a big bow on the aisle chair and add a paper or plastic cone filled with flowers or greenery to enhance the bow. If it is for a sit down dinner I would put a bow with a small flower wreath on each chair that matches the table centerpieces. Have fun and visit Dollar tree if you have one for supplies.

Thanks for your input. These are the chairs provided by the lodge for the reception. I will visit Dollar Tree for inspiration as well. The wedding is 18 months away, but time flies when planning a wedding!

Some rental businesses or people that arrange parties sometimes rent out pretty chair covers for the plastic chairs.

Tie a large fabric bow on or around the back slats, add a seat cushion

if ther is concern about stability for older or sickly folks have a few stronger chairs for them

I agree with all of the above responses. If you decide to use plastic/resin chairs tie a bow or fabric to match bridal party colors. That should hide the back of them and dress them up a bit. Ive also heard that funeral parlors will allow you to use their chairs if not in use.

Are you having Clergy perform the service? If so (even if not - they know their local peers) ask them if they could assist you in borrowing chairs from their home Church/Temple.

If you call a religious organization to borrow, ask to speak to the Exec. Director - others won't be able to answer your questions.

I HIGHLY encourage you to get more stable chairs if at all possible! As a disabled person (I do walk alone), stable seating is a necessity. The last thing you want is for Grandpa to fall at the ceremony!
