What ideas do you have for a 51st wedding anniversary?

I would like to have a small, quiet 51st wedding anniversary in Jan. 12. We don’t drink, and we will have two adults and two children with us. I’m thinking something nice at home. But I want it to be special. We love lasagna. Do you have ideas on how to bring this evening up two notches? Thank you. ☺️

Make it special by doing an upgrade for your table. Use a nice table cloth, place settings, a centerpiece and maybe some candles (you can even use the LED kind if you're worried about flame). Just make sure the ambiance is celebratory. Music is nice, too. And, even if you don't drink alcohol (good for you!), there are lots of flavored teas 'n such to kick up your event from just water or regular tea. Lasagna is perfect! I always prepare mine ahead and serve it with a small salad and maybe breadsticks or Italian bread. Oh, and don't forget the dessert! Continue with the Italian theme - or go with something you love. Contrats!

No alcohol is great but you can still upgrade a bit with stem-ware. Your best dishes. Fresh flowers and candles. Romantic music you loved 52 years ago. Dress up as if you were at a real fancy resturaunt.

Get your children to act as waiters until time to sit and eat.

    No phones allowed. LOL

Yes, yes, yes! And my 8yrold and 6yrold granddaughters would be thrilled to act as waiters! Thanks. ☺️

  • Jan nailed it. How about some sparkling Martinelli's? I always serve that for the kids and guests that do not want or can't have alcohol. Right now they have apple / cranberry (my favorite) or apple / pomegranate. Buy a couple bottles and stash them away for next month. My local markets are selling right now for around $2 a bottle. I bought 5 and saving for guests. If that's too sweet, how about a sparkling water? There are all sorts on the market, even my local chain grocery store carries some imported Italian water products.

Lasagna is fantastic, one of my favorites too. How about making a festive Italian dessert or picking up something from a local Italian market? Don't forget the garlic bread! And if you are coffee drinkers, how about some lovely Italian coffee with dessert?

Make a small antipasto platter to start.

Both my parents were Europeans and in many homes they end the meal with fruit or fruit and cheese. Pears, Satsumas (Or cuties are what is sold in my markets), whatever looks good at your market, a nice cheese and even some nuts.

Even just using everyday dishes, use placemats or a tablecloth and set it up in formal style and add some candles for ambience.

    Congratulations! ❤

Congratulations to you! A brunch would great for this occasion. Yes dress up the table with your favorite linens and dishes. You can get all items at your local market for fuss free entertainment. Don't forget the flowers. You can also make a small desert/ coffee bar on the side. There are several sparkling juice beverages you could purchase or make early that morning. Fruit and cheeses are always a good additions to any meal. Make it your special day and most of all take lots of pictures!

Thank you, Stacey! I’m planning a Christmas Day Brunch after Santa comes a few miles away. A coffee/cocoa/dessert bar would be a good idea with our varied tastes. If we decide to celebrate on Saturday instead of Friday night, that’s an even better idea. Merry merry! ☺️
