I have a large dog - over 100 pounds and use a large foam pad covered with a blanket safety pinned underneath at the corners. He doesn't chew it as he doesn't like the fuzzies from the blanket in his mouth. He can't claw it off as the safety pins anchor it well. Plus for me, it's easy to take the cover off and wash. Good luck!
I bought kiddie cots in a stack of 4 for my dogs on a childs kindergarten website. Very cheap and they last forever. I have a few outside too for them to lie in the sun. all totally weatherproof. Love them. Light and easy to move around. I have 4 dogs, they are always on the cots.
PS..when company comes? I just slide them under the bed and couch. :)
I have 2 dogs. I put flat bed sheets folded on top of the beds so when they dig or scratch (dogs do that before settling down) only the sheets get undone. If your dog destroys everything before bedtime maybe he/she has too much energy :) I always take my dogs for a walk before bedtime, it helps me exercise as well :)
