You can do both but I prefer to broil mine because I like a bit of crust on top. I had it at a restaurant that way and am spoiled. I broil it for about 10-15 minutes and check it at 10 minutes. If you don't want a crust, take it out and test it to see if it is flaky or move the rack down a notch before broiling. I do it in my convection microwave since it has a broil feature. I take a fillet and cut it into individual servings before I broil it. I leave the skin on because it is easier to peel off after broiling than to skin it before broiling. I have not tried the individual portion size packages found in the freezer section at the grocery store.

Hi Carol, I have used the individual frozen packets and they are pretty decent. They also have the skin on the back side. They're obviously not as tasty as fresh, but they are convenient and defrost quickly. Some of the pieces are larger than others but for the most part, they are about half the size of a piece you would get at a nice restaurant. As long as you spice them up with the usual s&p, lemon, olive oil, etc. (I love dill!) they come out very nicely. My advice, however, don't leave them in the freezer too long. I made that mistake and the meat becomes saturated with water and then loses a lot of flavor. I actually forgot I had a half bag left so they were in there for about 4 months! Not so yummy!

I prefer baking! I rinse the fish off and pat dry with paper towels. I lay it on a large piece of aluminum foil. Then lightly coat the entire top with softened butter. I squeeze the juice of half of a lemon over it...sprinkle with paprika, salt, pepper and dried parsley. Close ends of foil...sealing the ends. Bake in preheated oven (400) degrees for 1/2 hour. It is very tasty and moist!

curry is a nice spice for salmon..also fennel w/corrinder. Put on both sides..leave on the skin..cook non skin side first..that will give you a nice brown crust..olive oil to cook it in a pan.
