I need to put a 'cat entrance' under the side window

Question

My elderly cat Minx needs help getting in/ out the side window. I think a couple of boards in a U frame would work. Is 10" wide a big enough ledge for her to also lie on? There's a raised bed planter that the legs of the U frame could screw onto as it's a wood planter. It is 55 1/2" from the ground to under the window; the planter is 78 1/2" long. Any ideas for incremental side steps for her? Thank you. Lynn

I don't know what the area looks like, but I was thinking of the sort of steps you see on decks, just the stair stringers and boards across to make the steps. You can stop it a bit below the window, and most stair steps are wide enough for a kitty to lounge on. 10' would be enough--my cat sleeps on a 4-5' radiator, though it does look a bit precarious.
