Quick Plastic Canister Update!

I think just about everyone has some of these clear plastic cannisters lying around. When Lodi moved in and we combined households we ended up with nearly a dozen all together! We use them in all of the usual ways: flour, sugar, rice, etc. But we also use them for Annie’s dog treats. Unfortunately dog treats aren’t exactly that pretty so I’ve been trying to figure out something quick, cheap and easy that would look nice but keep her dog treats out and within easy reach.

I first considered painting the canisters out but I really just didn’t think it would last so they’ve been like this for a couple of years now with me trying to figure out a solution.

It finally dawned on me that I could just bag up all of the dog treats, place them inside and hide them totally.

All I needed was some pretty fabric to make those clear plastic canisters accent our décor here in the kitchen as well. I went on Amazon in search of something red and inexpensive.

I found this red buffalo check table cloth for only 6.99!

I first emptied the plastic canister and cleaned it out completely. And then I laid out my fabric, put the dog treats in it and cut it extra extra big before inserting it all back into the canister.

I then carefully cut off the excess before moving on and doing the same to the other three.

SO EASY AND INEXPENSIVE!

(I did make sure that there was just a little extra so I could fold the fabric over the top of the treats so none of its liner showed.)

I think that is about the quickest change from an eyesore to a little extra pop of our accent color that I can think of!
