Create a Fall Wreath Using a Plate

A plate provides some inspiration for a fall garden wreath for the Potting Shed!
I hang a bittersweet vine wreath on my Potting Shed door every fall. To change it up this year, I decided to incorporate a plate in the wreath for that had a fall garden theme.
I found the ‘Hello Autumn’ plate on sale at Pier 1 a couple of weeks ago. I loved the pile of pumpkins in the wheelbarrow!
The challenge was how to attach the plate to the wreath to keep it stationary and secure when I was going in and out of the door. I have a set of woven handled placemats that I got at World Market several years ago. One of one of them has since come apart, but I keep piecing it back together since they’re no longer available when I need a set of four for the table.
I used a drapery pin as a hook in the placemat to hang the plate the from, using a plate hanger that I had. A package of drapery pins are around $2.
The mat was the perfect length to hang underneath the wreath and provide a little texture to blend with the bittersweet wreath. Sometimes it pays to hoard your broken placemats. ;)
My wheelbarrow got a makeover and fresh coat of red paint this summer. She’s piled with pumpkins to welcome autumn!
A little fall plaid ribbon and a vintage trowel adds some decorative fall garden details to the wreath for the Potting Shed.
