Some Hometalkers have been asking about making Easter Wreaths. Some have asked for a more simple way, or a way they can learn how to make wreaths. This wreath tutorial is for you. It is by far the easiest, no fail wreath you can make. It is bright, cheerful, and can be changed according to your likes and wishes.
First you will need to buy your favorite flowers that come in bunches in a Dollar store or other department store, a cheap wire hanger, and a ribbon. You may find long nosed pliers handy to work with the wire.
I chose these pansies, but bulky flowers might make a bolder statement, if that is what you want.
Remember you can add small animals or even small packages of eggs or anything you like to make yours more personal. I just wanted the flowers.
I bought 3 bouquets of faux pansy flowers to fill the wreath. Then I used an inexpensive wire hanger and bent it to a roundish shape. The cheaper the hanger, the easier it will be to mold into a circle and add the flowers. Here I took the wire apart. I used the sharp bend of the hanger and hook on one end to be my "stop" holder, and the other end to add the flowers. Pull the flowers off the bouquet, remove any center plug, and put the open flower petals on the wire. They have a hole to use from being attached to the wire on the bouquet. Just slip the wire through that hole.
I did put leaves on first. Save the leaves to add variety as you go. I put on several stems of flowers, then added a leaf or two. The leaves also come pre-designed with holes for the wire. Some pansies were yellow and some violet/purple. I did not care which went on in what order.
This is the wire hanger with one full bouquet of petals and leaves on the wire. They are pushed up tighter than they will be when finished to keep them out of the way. Continue adding flowers and leaves alternately until all 3 bouquets are used. I had a number of leaves left over which I will use on another project.
I did use sharp nosed pliers to rewind the end of the hanger wire back to the hooked end. Spread the flowers and leaves evenly. Then I added a multi-colored ribbon with a double bow.
If you were adding small animals you could use the small hoops that often come on them or attach one ear or arm with needle and thread. I would put maybe one at the bottom and a smaller package of eggs or something on each side, if I were to add anything.
Or if I wanted a true Easter remembrance, a Cross or any Christian symbol would be appropriate added the same way. The words He Arose could be tied on across the middle with an end attached on each side. You don't have to be creatively gifted to make this wreath. If I can do it, anyone can!
