Fall Wooden Sign

I wanted a wooden fall sign for my home. I found a scrap piece of plywood and put my Silhouette Cameo to work.
I started by choosing a piece of scrap plywood we had in the garage and sanding it with the palm sander.
I stained it using (affiliate link) DecoArt Color Stain in Charcoal. I love this stuff. I did not wipe off the stain when I was done. This is just one coat using a foam brush. It is so easy.
I purchased two designs from the Silhouette Store and downloaded them into my Silhouette software program. I used the vinyl in two colors . The orange is for the pumpkin design and the white was for the text design. If you place the vinyl on the mat correctly you can cut both designs as the same time.
"Weeding" out the spots that aren't needed seems to take forever. I was about 1/2 done at this point. To do this I use a small tweezer and an exacto knife to "pick up" the pieces.
Once the design is ready to go onto the project the easiest way to do this is to use the Silhouette transfer paper or clear contact paper which is the cheaper option.

Before removing the design from the backing paper place clear contact paper on top of it. Pull the contact paper lifting the design with it, then place the entire thing onto the board. Get it where you like it then gently remove the contact paper. This makes the process so much easier.
After the graphics were placed onto the board I dry brushed some Americana DecoArt Chalky Paint onto the surface to give it a little bit more depth. I think it turned out pretty cute!
What do you think? I goes well with my other fall pumpkins I have created this year.
