Faux Leather Leaves

I had gotten a leather pumpkin from a craft store and loved it. It got me thinking how I could recreate it in some leaves. This is what I came up with.

My leaves

I purchased some wooden leaves at the dollar store. I'm sure you could find these at your local craft store too.

Leather looking scrapbook paper

I purchased some leather look scrapbook paper at Hobby Lobby. One piece will do six leaves. I traced out my leaves. Then got out my handy dandy Modge Podge that I purchased at the dollar store.

Using Modge Podge

I then glued my paper leaves onto my wood leaves. I let some wrinkle up so they would hopefully look like vintage leather.

After they dried I used my scrapbook ink pad in walnut and distressed them. Just by rubbing it in the edges and some on the wrinkles.

The finished leaves

I absolutely love these. In person these really look like aged vintage leather. I decided to string some together to make a garland. These could easily be done as coasters just by adding some waterproof varnish on the tops of them. Or just scattered on a tabletop for a beautiful Fall tablescape.
