Halloween or Thanksgiving?

One of the problems with decorating for Halloween is that some of the decor is not suitable for Thanksgiving/Fall. At my front door I made a floral Halloween arrangement but wanted it to last until I decorate for Christmas.
I started out with the two containers and crumpled up newspaper to fill most of the container. You could use empty plastic bottles or peanuts but the top two layers need to be florist foam blocks. The center of the floral blocks needs to be a little higher to place your Jack-o-Lantern on so it isn’t hidden by all the floral and greens. I used fake flowers and greenery for mine so it would last longer.
Plug in your pumpkin so that you know the light works. Place the pumpkin in the center on its raised area. (I poked two holes in the bottom to put wire picks to hold the pumpkin in place due to wind.) Build your arrangement by placing largest flowers and filling in with smaller pieces. If you are not skilled at flower arranging you could also use a large wreath the diameter of your container.

Then after Halloween, simply turn the pumpkin’s face to the corners and you are ready for Thanksgiving.

Happy Fall!
