How to Make an Easy Burlap & Ribbon Garland With Scraps

This entryway table was a wedding gift from my parents. I love decorating it for the seasons, and always try to give it some special attention, since it holds sentimental value for me.

After I had my fall tiered tray arranged on the entryway table, I decided the table still needed a little something. I have seen these rustic garlands on Pinterest, and knew I could make it with the leftover supplies I had from my DIY Ribbon & Burlap Wreath.

Twine & Ribbons

I started by cutting a piece of twine to the length I needed for my entryway table. Then, I cut 3 different ribbon patterns into 12-inch strips.

Burlap Strips

Then, I used a leftover piece of burlap from my fall front porch, and cut it into strips as well. It will fray and have fringy edges, but that's okay. It adds to the rustic, farmhouse look!

Loop the Ribbons and Burlap Over the Twine

To attach the burlap and ribbons to the twine, I folded each strip into a loop, placed it under the piece of twine, and then pulled the tails of the ribbon or burlap through the loop, to form a knot over the twine.

Adjust and Arrange

To finish, I just slid the ribbons and burlap gently along the twine as needed, to make sure they were uniformly spaced.

Easy Change-Up

I am using this garland as part of my fall decor, but the neutral colors in this will work for so many seasons or holidays. You can use this same technique with any colors of ribbon or fabric you like.

And because the pieces are just tied on, you can always remove one pattern of ribbon to easily change up the whole look! For example, you could remove the striped ribbon and switch it out with a red plaid ribbon or fabric for Christmas! In a matter of minutes, you'd have a whole new look!
