Ever find a hubcap off on the side of the road. I sure do!! And many of them once I started creating them into yard decorations. Here is the basic idea.
Please wash your hubcap from grime and dirt. Use Dawn dish soap. Dry completely.
Use any outdoor spray paint. The same paint if you were to paint the porch, patio furniture, or house with. Give it two coats, but allow to dry about an hour in between layers.
Now the decorations are up to YOU! Want to use hot glue for accessories but the hubcap will remain on the covered porch, inside the garage and out of the sun, rain and wind. If not, use e6000 and only a dab of hot glue to help the accessories adhere quickly.
Now find a pack of solar lights that have a long extension. This hubcap with be on the porch, but, the solar panel will reach in the sun.
I crafted a pink one on this day as well.
Weave the solar lights in and out of the grooves.
On my wall under the covered porch. See video of the night time view. Here is two other ideas....
I created a moon with a Ford hubcap. Wash and repeat the steps above, but, now I use gems. After your paint is dried completely-I use e6000 and glued them on. This took two days. I purchased the gems in bulk at the local JoAnns. The glue must adhere for 12 hours before you move the hubcap again. Spray clear sealer on the total cap! I used mod podge clear sealer.
Here is my sun and moon and still outside today. I live in Michigan. They all held up all winter. Ask for a recent photo. Have fun and never pass up a dirty ol hubcap laying lonely on the side of the road. Bless!!
