Inexpensive Fall Garland

A great way to celebrate fall is with an inexpensive Fall Garland. Why not use items you already have around the house. Check your craft supplies, fabric bin, kitchen and don't forget the outdoors.
Step 1: Gather up your supplies. I picked up some dried leaves outside. Some wooden spools of thread (you could also use wooden beads) , some kind of thread or string. Some cinnamon sticks from the kitchen.
Step 2: In addition to the other items, you will need some fall fabrics. I used three different kinds and some scrap pieces of lace. I also used some fall ribbon.
Step 3: Make a loop for the end of the garland. I cut a piece of fabric about 7-8 inches long and tied a knot on the end.
Step 4: I took my thread and ran it through the knot at the end of my loop and secured it. Make sure to make it long enough to add all of your items onto the thread for your garland.
Step 5: Tie strips of fabric onto the thread. I cut my strips around 4-5 inches long. I used three different fabrics. Ty them around and make a knot.
Step 6: I threaded on my leaves. I am not sure how many I used, around 10-15. Add as many as you like. Next I added a cinnamon stick. I tried to poke a hole in the cinnamon stick but it broke it in half. Mine were rather old. I used my frill press to make my holes.
Step 7: Next I added a piece of lace. Once again about 4-5 inches. Next came a wooden spool with another piece of lace. The I started with fabric gain and repeated until the desired length.
Step 8: I tied ribbon around the spools of thread and hot glued a tiny pumpkin onto the ribbon.
Step 9: I hung it around my welcome sign for now. Irma was coming so I couldn't leave anything out. Check out my site for more details and options for making your fall garland.
