This is the perfect Fall and Thanksgiving table runner for anyone with a little extra paint, a few buttons and a pair of scissors! No need to drag out your sewing machine to make your table look beautiful this Fall.
I was looking for something to add a little special touch to my table this Fall (after adding this beautiful Farmhouse planter to the kitchen) and wanted something that was neutral and rustic looking. I don't particularly like the look of bright pre-dyed felt so when I saw this beautiful blanket batting that had a gorgeous natural look to it I knew it was exactly what I wanted.
To make the no-sew table runner, I needed straight sides so used a long board to draw a line down each side.  You could also use a metre or yard stick.

I also added point on each end to give the runner a nice shape.
To add some colour, each end was adorned with flowers cut from the same fabric and dyed with paint.
To colour the flowers, water down a spoonful of paint and dip each flower into the mixture.  I could have used pre-coloured felt for the flowers but wanted them to have a more muted, old look to them.
To get the Fall colours, I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Barcelona Orange, Country Chic Paint in Fresh Mustard and Fusion Mineral Paint in Fort York Red.
Vintage buttons added the last bit of texture and colour to the table runner.
The final touch was some little jute twine tassels for each end.

I love how this table runner is the perfect combination of neutral and colourful. It was exactly what my table needed.
