Check out Pinterest. We made several years ago. We filled them with rice. They turned out great the kids helped decorate them (I'd cut out mittens, scarves, from scrapes of fabric. We had fabric paint for eyes, buttons etc. Small sticks for arms) They lasted a couple of years until mice decided the rice was a good snack.

A white sock with a colored toe might be easiest, you could use quilt batting or even a styrofoam ball in head, tie off, another ball or stuffing in middle, another tie off, and then biggest ball in bottom. Cut off heal and sew bottom shut, add ribbon or scarf cut down for neck scarf, add button eyes or use sharpie pen, orange nose drawn with sharpie, and put miniature branches from a bush for the 2 arms poked into the cloth and balls, then buttons or sharpie "coal" drawn down the front. You could add miniature vest if you wanted to sew one and hat or toddler mitten tied off for hat. These snow men have different colored sock for bellies and only 2 balls. Also, they used googly eyes available at walmart or most stores that sell crafts.
