I made three velvet ones years ago and still love them every fall. I put a cupful of pea gravel in the bottom of each one and fiberfill to fill them up nice and full.
How about leaving a tiny opening at the bottom, stuffing a balloon through the opening, and blowing up the balloon? You could remove the balloon each year, and the pumpkins would be much easier to store for next year.
Sonething fluffy! I've used cut up towels, shower puffy things, or pillow fluff.
How about the poly beans they use to fill up bean bag chairs? I've seen them in my local home store right next to the covers for sale.
Fiberfill surrounded by quilt batting. Any good fabric store will carry these items.
Use fiberfill stuffing or waded up newspaper or plastic grocery bags.
Thanks!
