Hi there, Hometalk Friends! Today I'm pairing a thrift store basket and succulents to create a welcoming door basket for spring. It’s the perfect alternative to a spring wreath...

When I found this basket at the thrift store, I knew I wanted to use it as a wreath alternative. Plus, I already had faux succulents on hand. Ready to make your own?

Start by touching up any bare spots on your basket with matching craft paint. (You may prefer to skip this step depending on the basket you select.)

Next: Add an assortment of succulents, greenery or flowers, arranging the larger stems first, and filling in with smaller pieces.  Find succulents here!

I used a combination of faux lamb's ear and succulents, but maybe you prefer to create a Mother's Day or May Day basket filled with flowers. Find lamb’s ear here!

The great thing about this type of basket is that the stems stay in place well once they are tucked in, but it's also easy to play around with the design until you're happy with the results. Also, you can create a similar door basket wreath alternative even if you can't find this exact style basket--many varieties will work!
