Now that it's officially winter and the holidays are just about over, I am coming to grips with the fact that I'll have to take down the Christmas decor pretty soon. I love how warm and cozy the holiday decor makes our home, so I am trying to find ways to mimic that feel with some non-holiday, winter decor. Here's a quick, easy, and inexpensive craft to create some cozy winter vibes.

For this craft, you will need the following:Green and white felt (from your local craft store or purchased online)Bakers Twine (craft string)ScissorsGlue and Glue GunRuler or Measuring TapeMountain and Snow Patterns ( download on my Blog, From The Ground Up Life)

The Planning PhaseYou'll then need to cut the bakers twine to the desired length. I tend to make garland around 6-feet-long, but it will depend on where you intend to hang it, how much you want it to hang down, and how much you want/need left on the ends to secure it. The ledge I am hanging it on is 6-feet-wide, so I am cutting the string to be 9-feet-long.Once you have your measurements figured out, you can start to plan the layout. You'll need to decide how much space you want between each mountain and how much you need left at the ends. I want a foot on each end, leaving 7 feet of space for the mountain pieces to hang from. I plan to have about 10 inches between each, so I will need 8 mountains.

The Execution PhaseTo start, you will need to download the PDF and print the pattern I provided ( download on my Blog, From The Ground Up Life).Next, you'll cut out the mountain bases on the green felt and then the snowy tops on the white felt.

Then, align the snowy caps on the top of the mountains and secure with the hot glue gun.

Finally, you will layout the bakers twine, and start placing your mountains where you had planned, using a ruler or measuring tape. Then place a dab of hot glue on the back of each mountain, towards the top and place the twine on the glue while it's still hot.

And that's it! Time to hang your fun, unique garland! Your fireplace mantel, a headboard, and open shelves in your mudroom are great spots for this adorable decor!
