My name is Jo Beth and I love snowmen...or snowladies! It has been that type of a winter here in Central PA. I had a vision, and this is what I created.
I found this kettle at our local Goodwill Store for $2.79 and the socks cost a mere $1.49.
I painted the lid black to resemble the snowman's hat. I used acrylic paint.
I thought about spray painting the kettle, but it has been so cold in this neck of the woods, I opted for hand painting it in the comfort of my kitchen. It did require 2 coats.
Next, I added black eyes, simple round circles.
I added a few lashes and a happy smile. If you look closely, you can see a little hint of pink on her cheeks. I smeared the paint as I was trying to do here cheeks, and used a wet cloth to wipe it off, but I liked the way it looked with just a hint of pink.
Next, I used a flat brush to add rosey cheeks.
I cut the socks in half, and stretched one over the lid to resemble the top of her hat.
I added a nose, some accents in her eyes, and tied the remaining part of the socks to the handles. One of my friends asked -"well, does it serve any purpose?" I said sure, when I take all my snowmen decorations down, I can store lots of them in the kettle. Win-win. Spray the kettle with polyurethane to protect the paint.
