Spring Wreath Made With Ping Pong Balls
Make this colorful spring wreath using a tissue paper, Mod Podge, and Dollar Store ping pong balls!
Spring Wreath by Craftidly.com
This beautiful spring wreath was really easy to make and I found most of the supplies at Dollar Tree. If you'd like to make one, check out the supplies list and instructions below.
To get started, gather up 24 ping pong balls and poke holes through the sides of each using an awl or a drill. Please be careful doing this. I recommend using a vice grip to hold the ping pong ball in place so you don't injure yourself.
Then grab a wire hanger and form it into a circle. This will be your wreath base. Use wire cutters to remove the hook end of the hanger as shown above.
Next, cut circles of colorful tissue paper large enough to wrap around a ping pong ball.

Cut inward slits into the tissue paper circles. Almost like cutting a pie but don't cut all the way through the middle. You just need a few slits so the tissue paper will wrap around the ping pong ball.
Apply a coat of Mod Podge to each ball and glue a layer of tissue paper to it. Smooth out wrinkles as you go and apply a second layer of tissue paper if needed.
When you have the look you want, seal the surface with a final coat of Mod Podge. Repeat for all 24.
Add a toothpick to your finished decoupaged pong balls to keep the holes open if you like. I didn't do this because I could feel the hole indents but I did use a toothpick to clear the holes as I was stringing them onto my wreath.
Let everything dry on waxed or parchment paper. Once dry, I recommend adding a clear coat sealer that protects against UV like Krylon UV-Resistant Clear Spray to reduce color fading!
String the decoupaged ping pong balls onto your wire and use your wire cutters to bend and connect the ends.
I love how this wreath came out! I added flowers to mine but feel free to decorate with a big wire ribbon bow or any other decorations you have on hand.

This would be a cute idea with plastic eggs for Easter. A very versatile idea!
