How to create a GORGEOUS, unique "wreath" for Spring and Summer...from a repurposed, thrift-store straw tote bag!

There are ALWAYS an abundance of straw tote bags at the thrift store...and I decided to create a beautiful "wreath" for my door this Spring using one! I selected one to use- one with good structure and shape...perfect to hang from my front door!

All I needed to do was give it a "I just strolled through the flower market!" look with silk posies from the craft store. (AND a secret "ingredient" to keep the stems upright and perfect!)

And then I hung it on our front door using a ribbon that I safety-pinned to the back of the bag. Since I have a red door, I use a red ribbon for hanging wreathes...it just blends in perfectly. Isn't that gorgeous? Totes aren't just for lugging your stuff around, that's for sure!

Your idea is beyond darling! I see you hung the tote from the ribbon but I cannot make out what the ribbon was attached to. I don't have anything in the middle of my door so mine would have to hang from the top on a wreath hanger. Any idea how to cover that up so the purse would hang lower? I have a straw tote my daughter gave me that reminded her of one that her great grandmother had. It is a cherished memory for both of us and I would love to use it like this. Thanks for sharing this truly unique idea!

I love this! I would have a hard time deciding if I wanted to use that cute tote for my wreath or to carry it!! I read your secret. that's a good idea but I don't always have access to peanuts. can you use an oasis block in the bottom of the tote too?
