$3 Rustic Valentine's Day Heart Wreath

$3

Seriously, can you believe this wreath cost only $3! And if you have Modge Podge on hand already, you can save yourself another dollar. I made this whole wreath with 3 items from the dollar store and a wire hanger and a paper grocery bag. Are you ready to find out how?
I knew I wanted a fun heart wreath for Valentine's Day but didn't want to spend a lot of money. I was inspired by a simple pool noodle at the dollar store. And with some Modge Podge and a $1 banner from Target, made it into something awesome.
I cut the pool noodle in half, then cut the top and bottom of each half at an angle. I used the wire hanger to create a loop for hanging the wreath and to shape the top of the heart. There are a lot of pictures of the process on my blog (link below). I used a little packing tape to secure the pool noodle into the heart shape.
Now I had an ugly orange foam heart. No way was I going to hang that on my door! So I needed to cover it up. That is where the paper bag comes in! I bought a small container of Modge Podge at the dollar store and used it to glue ripped pieces of a paper grocery bag to the pool noodle heart.
Add some Modge Podge to the outside of the ripped pieces of paper bag (the side with any store name or logos on it). Then attach them to the pool noodle. Keep going until the entire noodle is covered.
Can you believe how it looks now! No one would ever guess this was once an orange pool noodle and a grocery bag I saved from the recycle bin.
To pretty up my rustic heart wreath, I added a heart felt banner I bought in the Target Dollar Spot. I draped it over the heart in a couple places and secured it with some hot glue. Then it was time to hand my new $3 wreath on my door!
I'm ready to go buy 10 more pool noodles and see what else I can transform them into! To see lots more photos of the process and more budget friendly Valentine's Day crafts, make sure to check out my blog! I'd love for you to stop by and say hi.
