Do you collect old books? I've been a rescuer of antique and vintage books for years, and I have a special fondness for small and mini books. I usually buy my old books at thrift stores for $1 each at the most.

This book wreath project idea came to me in a dream recently, and I had to figure out a way to make the dream a reality without damaging my beloved old books in any way.

I've made a book page wreath before, like my Nancy Drew wreath, but never a wreath out of actual books.
So to start I grabbed a bunch of small books from my collection that I thought were good candidates.

Then I raided my stash of wreath supplies and found a 12" plastic wreath, and to put it all together... some heavy jute twine/cording.
After some trial and error I discovered the best way to tie my books onto the frame was to wrap the jute cord around the top section of the wreath frame.

If it's wrapped around the outside of the whole frame the books will sag. It should be tied just tight enough to be snug, but not too tight. You don't want the covers don't get damaged at all.

I only used hard cover books. I have a collection of small leather soft covered books, but decided not to use those because the covers might be harmed.
Here's my bottom layer of books. I tied the jute cord knots under the books so that's not seen.
When I attached the top layer I tied the jute into simple bows for some interest.
Even though these books are small after tying 8 of them onto the wreath frame the whole thing is a little bit heavy.

My wreath frame is plastic, and I used it because it's what I had in my stash. I'm always trying to use up my stashes.

It holds everything just fine, but a wire wreath frame would work well too... and if it wasn't already wrapped with something you could cover it with whatever you wanted before adding the books.
I decided to join the books for a little extra security. I joined books that were opposite each other and tied knots in the middle.

You could leave it like this if you wanted to, for a more rustic look, or add some bling like I did.
I went into my vintage light reflector stash and put a few together, added a small glass ornament in the middle, and glued it onto the jute.
And here's my finished book wreath.

My hubby and I are big readers and love to have books in every room, so this wreath is a perfect addition to our decor.

This is delightful wreath! I will try to assemble it after Christmas. My daughter and I will spend the Christmas/ New Year week simply doing mother daughter projects. This is perfect, she and I so enjoy thrift stores and older books. Thank you for a great idea!
