Cheap Wreath

I had some leftover garland that I purchased at Dollar Tree last year and was wondering what else I could use it for. I needed another wreath for my windows but didn't have any wreath forms but I did have plenty of cardboard I was saving for another project. Aha! So I laid the cardboard on the floor and got my pencil and string out. (I have a pencil tied to a 24" piece of string in my crafts box to use for projects requiring a circle .)

I wanted about a 16" wreath so I measured out 8" on my string, held the string on my board, extended the pencil and started making the pencil outline of the outer circle. After making the outer circle, I measured the string to 5" and repeated the process to make the inner circle and cut out the form. This is what it looked like:

Next, I started wrapping the garland around the cardboard. Here's some tips I learned while doing this:
First, I would have made 2 or 3 forms and glued them together to make a sturdier form before wrapping the garland. Second, you need to wrap the garland tightly so you don't see cardboard. This picture is before I realized that!
So after I unwrapped and wrapped again this is what it looks like:

Now it's ready to decorate! I used some glass balls and red wooden bead garland that I already had. You can wrap lights, ribbon or whatever you have on hand and decorate with whatever trinkets you have! Be creative and try to use stuff you already have.
