I love a Christmas wreath.

I have a bit of an obsession. I have lots of them up inside my house over the festive period - partly because I’m scared they will get destroyed on my front door from the “lovely” English weather.

I like to make a fresh/real wreath for my front door and leave the other ones for inside.

Here is how I created mine.

You can buy the supplies rather easily.

The berries and oranges can be bought on amazon along with festive ribbon and the ring itself.

I got the moss and some of the greenery from my local florist. However if your luck and live near a flower market you could pick up what you need a lot cheaper.

The ivy and holly I took cuttings from my nans garden.

I found the pine cones in the park.

Firstly you will need to get your ring, moss and string.

Ideally you’ll need green string. This will blend in with the greenery.

If you don’t want to use moss you can get a floral foam ring instead.

Start by tying a knot on one of the corners where the bar meets the outer ring. Leave enough string at the end as you’ll need this to create a loop to hang it.

As shown here.

Then add lumps of tight moss to the ring and wrap the string around. Keep adding the moss. It should be about an inch thick. Keep wrapping the string about every 1.5cm along.

Your ring should now look like this.

thick, tight and secure.

Tie off the end using extra string from the beginning. make sure you make the knot nice and tight. You don’t want it unraveling but don’t cut it. You still need the string.

Using the same technique place the green onto the moss and wrap the sting round to secure it to the moss.

place the green in different angles on all sides, ensuring the moss is covered.

you will need to be closer with the string when doing this price.

As and when you want add in the other greenery.

my finished base looked like this.

again tie off the end back where you started. This time cutting off the end. Leaving a bit to create a tie for the knocker.

Now using florist wire (again I found this on amazon) apply the items to the wreath.

cut the wire into lengths of about 2-3 inches for each item your using.

Loop the wire over the item.

Tighten it round.

Then twist the wire around itself and poke into the wreath.

It would be good to come though the back of the moss and bend the wire back on its self to secure it.

Keep going and applying all your items.

You should get me up with something like this.

Then hang it on your door with pride.
