Love the Buffalo Plaid trend, but not sure how to re-create it at home? My rustic, whimsical, and farmhouse-inspired Hoop Wreath will teach you how to create Buffalo Plaid from just three colors of felt! The perfect way to greet your guests all winter long. Easy to find Craft Store Home Decor items make this a quick DIY to create in about an hour, let me show you how.

In a well-ventilated area or outside, spray the embroidery hoop and wooden greeting with Design Master ColorTool Walnut Wood spray stain. Design Master is a professional spray paint that provides excellent coverage and dries super quick.

From yardage, cut a 16” by 16” square of Kunin Classic™ Felt Red, insert in the embroidery hoop, pull gently to make felt taught and then tighten the screw at the top. Trim excess from the back of the hoop.

Measure and cut 2” by 2” squares – nine (9) from Kunin Premium™ Felt Black and twenty-four (24) from Kunin Premium™ Felt Charcoal. I like to use the Stabilo Aquarellable White Pencil to trace onto dark colors of felt. Layout Buffalo Plaid pattern, starting with the black square in the center and alternating with charcoal squares.

Once you are pleased with the composition, attach squares with fabric glue. Let the glue dry. Once dry, carefully trim the edges.

Draw simple tree shapes on plain paper, cut out and fit on to the front of the hoop. Then trace trees onto Kunin Premium™ Felt Kelly Green, Olive, and Apple Green. Cut out and attach to hoop with fabric glue.

To finish, attach faux pine greenery, pine cones and a burlap bow to the top center of the hoop wreath with the glue gun and glue sticks.

I hope you will use my tutorial on how to create Buffalo Plaid Hoop Wreath as a jumping-off point to showcase your creativity and create some craft store home decor. Swap out the trees for a house or deer silhouette for a custom creation!
