How to Make a DIY Fall Felt Leaf Wreath

Fall is my very favorite season, and I’ve been decorating the porch to get into the spirit. My favorite addition is my DIY felt leaf fall wreath, and I want to share the easy tutorial with you!Gather your supplies, and let’s get to work.
  • Scissors
  • Colorful felt sheets
  • Grapevine wreath
  • Hot glue gun
  • Card stock and marker (if you wish to create a template)
I started off by creating 3 template leaves by hand drawing them onto card stock and cutting them out.
I then laid the template over the felt and traced until each sheet was full.I took my fabric scissors and began cutting out all leaf shapes, which took about 20 minutes. The leaves are flat when all cut out, but to give them a little more movement, I decided to add a dab of glue on each one at the base and connect the bottom sides.
It actually takes less glue than shown. I only recommend using the smallest dab to keep the leaf looking clean and glue-free. Once the glue is added simply squeeze the bottom sides together for about 15 seconds.
As you can see the excess glue does show up on the fabric, so that’s why I recommend as little glue as possible. Repeat this step with all leaves.
Now it’s time to hot glue your leaves on your wreath in a way that appeals to you. I prefer to take them all in one direction and to have them overlap randomly. You don’t need a ton of hot glue to attach each leaf to the wreath. Just a dab will do.
Repeat this step until all leaves fill the inside part of the wreath to your liking.
For an added bit of fun and movement I glued a handful of leaves on the “outskirts” of the wreath to mimic the blowing in the wind look. You can skip this part if you wish.
That’s it. You can now pick off any stray strands of hot glue from your wreath and hang! Pretty easy, huh? The most time-consuming part is definitely cutting out all the leaves, but it’s so worth the work.
If you decide to give this DIY felt leaf fall wreath a try I’d love to see how yours turns out! https://www.ohsolovelyblog.com/diy-felt-leaf-fall-wreath-tutorial/
