Mantle Wreath Gets New Look for Christmas 2021 (Part 3)

I've been giving each of our wreath a fresh look for this year. In the past, we've hung a large wreath, decorated with ornaments, over our mantle during the holiday season. But this year, I wanted to give our mantle wreath a more elegant look. The challenge was to do this makeover without spending a lot of money.

This is how our mantle wreath used to look at the holidays. We didn't have a Christmas tree, so this wreath was a way to display our handmade ornaments. I thought it looked cute, but last year we bought an artificial Christmas tree and I moved the ornaments to the tree. So I needed a new look for this wreath.

First, I removed all the ornaments and "fluffed" the wreath a bit to make it look fresh again.

Then I wrapped the wreath in red and gold ribbon, tying it off with a big bow. I had been thinking about redoing this wreath since last year, so I was able to buy the ribbon and decorations after the holidays on clearance sale. This helped keep the cost down.

I chose red berries and these crystal branches. I cut apart these elements into smaller pieces using wire cutters to place in my wreath.

I placed my crystal bunches in first, putting a little hot glue at the end of each branch. Then I inserted my berry pieces the same way, filling in each section around my wreath.

I made sure that my decorations were balanced around my wreath.

I really like how this reworked wreath came out, but the real test was how it would look over my mantle, with our other holiday decorations.

Ta-da! I love how this new wreath looks on our mantle. The red and gold accents work really well with our other decorations for a more coordinated look. If you like our Merry sign, you can find the tutorial on my blog. And you can find the tutorial for our rustic Christmas tree fireplace screen also on my blog. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

The wreath was so cute before you changed it and the new look is fabulous! Glad you have a tree to put your ornaments on and still can use that beautiful plate inside the wreath!
