Wired Jute and Rope Heart Wreath

In an effort to find a way to make small rope wreaths, I discovered I could make a small wreath with wired jute and Manila rope. While playing around with the wreath to test its ability to hold its shape, I got an idea to squeeze it into a heart shape. The wired jute allowed me to do this and it held the heart shape. Follow along to see how to create your own little wreath that you can bend into whatever shape you want.

Wired rope heart wreath

I first used a piece of Manila nautical rope and some thin jute to form a round wreath. The thicker Manila rope was formed into a circle and I wrapped regular jute rope around it. It was kinda a floppy oval at this point instead of a round wreath. Not exactly the look I was going for and it kind of made a useless misshapen floppy wreath.

Uh, “ no”.

On a recent trip to Dollar Tree, I had seen a 7.5’ piece of wired jute for sale in the silk flower area, so I bought it thinking it might come in handy for making rope crafts. I remembered I had that in my craft stash. I grabbed that to see if it would help my epic fail of trying to create a rope wreath. I began wrapping the wired jute around my odd shaped wreath. I squeezed and pulled until my wreath was in the shape of a circle. The wired jute wrapped around the wreath enabled it to be able to hold its shape. Yay!!!!

Wreath was able to be molded into a circle

While I was forming the wreath into a circle, I noticed it kind of was looking a little like a heart at one point. After I’d gotten my rope wreath into a circle, I wanted to see if I could play around with it and actually form it into a heart. Yup, I could.

Morphing into a heart wreath

Being a person who enjoys discovering new stuff while attempting to create a completely different project, I was liking how this was going.

Making a longer heart out of other heart

Wondering what one would do with a little heart wreath, I looked around my work area and found this left over rope, tail like thing and tied it onto the bottom of my heart shaped rope wreath.

I may add a sprig of silk flowers down the road to the wreath, but for now, it’s hanging on a wall. So although my initial goal was trying to figure out a quick and easy way to make mini rope wreaths to be able to create my mini mint herb holder wreaths faster, I ended up discovering that the wired jute rope could be used to create wreaths in other shapes.

I hope you enjoyed this. Be sure to check out my other projects. Most are very easy to do with minimal supplies. Happy crafting and creating. Thanks for stopping by.
