I saw this project a few years ago, but never tried it. This year, with the grandkids at an age to enjoy the chocolate, I decided to make them from memory.
Each sleigh requires two candy canes, a standard Kit-Kat bar (because it's square) and ten miniature bars.
I used a bead of hot glue to attach the candy canes to the bottom of the Kit-Kat bar. I'd have preferred glue dots, but I used what I had on hand. Just make sure you have the canes curl over the front of the candy bar. I also had them line up at the back so they stayed even.
The completed bottom.
I did a trial run with the bars. Four on bottom, then three, two and one. I didn't care for the look, so I ditched the peanut butter cups and set out wrapping each miniature bar in Christmas paper. This took me almost two hours! It's not so bad if you're only making a couple. I'm making ten! That's eighty mini bars! Whew!!
Using a drop of hot glue, I secured each gift into a pyramid. I used red and green flat ribbon to wrap the sleigh.
I made sure the green ribbon was under the red.
You can top it any way you want. Again, I used what I had.
I used small velvet bows that tie onto gifts. I stra the back and threaded it undER the top ribbon.
I tucked the excess under the ribbon and taped it down.
And there you have it! Ready for the kiddos to tear apart.
