Christmas Cloche

I had a broken porch light that I hated to throw away. It seemed like I could make a terrarium or something with it if I turned it upside down. Finally, I had a better idea-- a cloche!

I started by turning the lamp upside down. Then I put the top piece upside down into the broken bottom part and glued it with a hot glue gun. (Can you see how the top piece would be the top of the lamp, if it were right side up, and on the top of the lamp?)

Then I put clear contact paper over the glass for the next step.

I spray painted it silver, in part to hide the hot glue holding it together.

Then I put Christmas ornaments in the cloche part on the bottom.

And after that I added free pine cones to the top "bowl." I was so glad to put this old porch light to good use, instead of putting it in the trash! I gave it away to a friend.

What would you have done with an old broken porch light?

Great idea! I might add a piece of wood or tray to the top instead of pine cones and use on the buffet as a serving tray. Could change decor in the bottom to match the occasion!
