Clearly we love this time of year. We love filling our home with Christmas decor that creates a warm and cozy feeling. Letting all who enter feel that special Christmas spirit! Today, we have more cozy Christmas decorations that are quick and easy to make. In fact, each cozy tree can be made in about 15 minutes. You can’t beat that!

Not only have we been making new Christmas decorations, but also we’ve been restoring a family heirloom this past month. A piano that’s been in the family since the late 1800’s.

If you’ve been following along on our Instagram stories, you’ve been able to see the progress of the piano rehab. We can’t wait to share it with you next month. Finally, last Friday, we were able to deliver it to it’s new home.

We've also created a video tutorial if you're a more visual learner.

For this project you will need some sort of knit fabric. I picked up this sweater at the thrift store for $3.

Check your own closet for a sweater you no longer wear. Then your project will be free.

I made 3 sweater trees and have left over fabric for another project.

As a rule, we are frugal! Why spend money on something we can make ourselves? While you can buy paper mâché cones as a base for this finger knit tree, we decided to make our own cones out of poster board.

I planned on making quite a few variations of this cone shaped tree and spending a couple of dollars on poster board would save me quite a bit overall.

In addition, making the cones is rather quick and easy.

First, tie a string to a pencil. Next, hold the end of the string at the corner of the poster board and draw an arc.

Finally cut out the arc with scissors.

Now roll the poster board into a cone shape. Determine how wide you want the base of the cone to be and trim off the excess.

This is the same method that we used for the  Finger Knit Christmas Tree.

Next, place the poster board cone shape on the sweater. Mark a line about 1/4″ larger than the cone shape.

Then cut out the sweater with scissors.

At this time, roll the poster board into the cone shape and secure with packaging tape.

It’s a good idea at this point to check and make sure the cone stands straight. If not, trim off a little from the bottom edge.

Fold the right sides of the sweater fabric together and stitch a 1/4″ seam along the side.

Turn right side out and trim the tip 1/8″ from the stitching line.

Last but not least place the poster board cone inside of the stitch sweater cone.

Fold over the lower edge of the sweater towards the inside of the cone and secure with hot glue.
