DIY Christmas Eve Box

8 Materials

If you’ve never heard of it, a Christmas Eve box is something you fill with things like new PJs, hot cocoa, popcorn, a movie, games, etc. and the family does all those activities together on Christmas Eve night. It sounded adorable and so we decided we had to start this tradition this year.

This DIY wooden Christmas Eve box was one of those make-it-up-as-you-go things, but it turned out so well. Luckily for you, I kept track of all my steps and measurements so you can recreate it and bring a new tradition to your home, too.

You can read a complete breakdown on this project on our blog HERE.

Step 1: Make your cuts

You can use any size dimension for your box based on how many things you want in it. You can read about the dimensions we picked here.

We used a removable drawer cover by running the sides of the box over our table saw. The blade was only a little up from the table so it wouldn't cut completely through the wood.

Step 2: Paint box

You can go big and bold or modern and neutral with your colors. Just make sure to make it festive.

Step 3: Assemble box

This is the last major step. If you use a drawer system like ours, make sure that the lid slides into your box and fits.

Give it all a good sanding and if you haven’t already.

Step 4: Decorate, add treats

Lastly, add all the goodies that you want in your DIY Christmas Eve Box and take lots of photos of your finished project. This quick little DIY can add lots of fun holiday memories for your family for years to come.
