DIY Rustic Christmas Mantel

I love decorating with rustic, natural elements, so of course, I had to keep the same style when it came to decorating my Christmas mantel this year. I used pine cones, a faux pine garland, some DIY projects and lots of red to keep things merry and bright!
At the very center of the mantel, our DIY twig tree has the place of honor. We made it last year out of twigs from a tree in our yard. My walls are tan, so I placed a DIY wood backdrop behind the tree to lighten things up.
I also added a faux pine garland, some sparkly white lights and bright red wooden beads for some added color.
A semi DIY banner hangs from the mantel -- hint: use paint to make over older decorations! I also added salvaged shutters and DIY decorations on the hearth, including Christmas countdown blocks. It's fun, rustic and definitely not formal, but we love it! You can find additional details and pictures on the blog. :)
