Hello Hometalkers! It's Jess from Jessica Welling Interiors. I can't tell you how excited I am that Christmas is coming... and so of course we need an advent calendar to count down the days! The great thing about this one is it can be used year after year. Be sure to click over to my blog for more project details, and to see where I got this awesome inexpensive unfinished wood advent calendar! Of course you can choose any color combo you like and customize your calendar to make it your own. Let's get started!

You just need a few supplies to get started. Add to this photo some wood stain.

First, paint the mini wood boxes. I left the knobs unpainted so I could come back and stain them later. Let the paint dry, and do a second coat.

Next, stain the wood frame. Depending on how dark you want your wood, you may need to do 2 coats. And once the painted drawers are dry, stain the knobs if you want.

Write numbers 1-24 on the fronts of the drawers. I alternated between red and white drawers. Once everything has had a good 24 hours to dry, replace the drawers, and you're done! Oh and don't forget to fill the drawers with something fun!

Next, come check out my fun and ultra-simple gift wrapping ideas!
