Made some holiday garland and my 3 year old even helped!

GARLAND # 1: BEADED GARLAND

If you've been following me for a while, you may have seen my beaded chandelier from a few months back. Well these were the left over beads. So I decided to make a beaded garland with what was left over.

I used a doll needler and rope to string the beads. I didn't know exactly what I had left over and I was too lazy to count it all so I just winged it and did 4 or 5 small beads and then a large bead for the pattern.

I have seen this beaded garland all over the internet this year and they cost about $20! This one was free with left over material.

I strung up the garland on my tree.

GARLAND # 2: POM POM GARLAND

Another very popular garland this holiday season is pom poms! Again didn't want to pay for one so I made one instead!

I didn't have a pom pom maker so I made a template out of a card board box and stenciled a large circle and small inner circle then cut it out with a razor blade. You will need 2 of these.

Then I used a left over ball of yarn (the joys of having a craft closet). There are videos all over youtube to watch to make pompoms but it is pretty east. Put a string in-between the 2 cardboard pieces and wrap the yarn over the circular part. Use the inner tread and tie it tight to hold the pompom together. Then cute along the circle!

And you get a fluffy pom pom!

I used the same string for all 3 garlands and tied the pom poms 10 inches apart then hung them on my entryway.

GARLAND # 3: MINI ORNAMENTS GARLAND

For the last garland, I just used small ornaments and the same twin. I measured 5 inches in between each ornament and tied them off!

Love the bead garland but is it too heavy on a smaller tree? Seems it might have to go so deep, to stay on, it wouldn't be seen. Guess who just found a stash of different size wood beads. I was hoping to use them with my various colored caps from eye drops and make gnomes but the largest bead was just a little small and didn't fill the bottom of the cap. So the garland seems to be a great idea.

I don't think it was heavy, I've been using mine every year since!
