Today I will show you how to make Recycled Tin Can Snowmen for Christmas with just a few simple supplies. My recycle bin is usually pretty empty because I am saving all the things that I could possibly upcycle into a craft project. I love to take items out of the trash and create fun, funky, and fabulous pieces of home decor, especially for holidays.

To begin the Recycled Tin Can Snowmen, gather all supplies. Wash and dry the metal cans, then apply a basecoat of Titanium White acrylic paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. Once dry, paint a three-inch section at the top of the large bean can Lamp Black. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat, if necessary. I love Americana Acrylics by DecoArt because they are rich and thick providing most surfaces with one coat coverage.

Measure the diameter of the large can (mine is four inches) and then trace a circle approximately one inch larger (I used a bowl from the kitchen) with a chalk pencil onto black craft foam. Trace the diameter of the large can in the center of the first circle and cut out with scissors.

Slide hat brim onto can where the black and white paint meets. The ridges in the can will hold the brim in place, but you can secure with a glue gun.

Attach two button eyes to each snowman with a glue gun and glue sticks. Paint two rosy cheeks onto each snowman with Cotton Candy Pink acrylic paint. Cut three rectangles from orange craft foam and then cut into long triangle carrot noses with scissors. Glue noses to faces under the eyes. Draw a large smile onto each snowman with the MONOTWIN Permanent Marker.

Attach tinsel chenille stems to the medium and small snowmen, from ear to ear, with a glue gun. Glue Pom poms over the ends of the chenille stem to be the snowmen’s earmuffs.

Attach a skinny ribbon around the large snowman’s hat, securing with a glue gun. Tie ribbons around the base of each soup can as the snowmen’s scarves. Accent all three snowmen with sparkly snowflake stickers.

I hope you will use my how to make Recycled Tin Can Snowmen project as a jumping-off point to showcase YOUR Christmas creativity. Dig into that recycle bin, get the kiddos involved, and create your very own snow family, representing each member of your family. Display on the mantel all Winter long!

I thought same thing use open end at top and fill with wrapped treat(s). Fun way to gift a remembrance at Christmas time, party favor or place setting at a holiday meal. Thanks for sharing

Also a great kitchen window or enclosed porch decoration idea. Open top for desk top pencil holder, kitchen utensils, silverware for table ….
