I have an obsession friends . . . And it’s with placing small trees all over my house. However, that can get a tad expensive if you’re buying them all. So, I’m sharing these easy paper Christmas tree cones that have saved my budget while also helping me to get my mini tree fix.

All you need are a few items to whip these together today! The paper Christmas tree can be made to almost any height, you can decorate it with material, feathers, glitter . . . the options are truly endless.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

HOW TO SHAPE THE TREES

Cut off some small pieces of packing tape and secure to the side of your table so you can grab quickly with one hand when ready.

Taking your poster board, beginning at one corner, start rolling into a circle. Keep the top tight, while allowing the bottom to be larger. Make sure the top of the “tree” has a small opening to tuck the extra material into.

Once the size you’d like is met, hold with one hand and secure with packing tape at top. Then cut away the extra poster board and tape cone down the side.

From there, cut the bottom evenly, standing up periodically to check and make sure cone is standing straight.

Making three is a great number to style well. A small, medium, and large size.

I ended up completing three sets of three, and placed one set above my headboard, one on my nightstand, and the other on our dresser.

Using three different fabric colors/patterns is also a great option that is visually appealing to the eye.

I’ve also been dying to try out with  white feathers on a set. Wouldn’t that be dreamy?

COVER PAPER CHRISTMAS TREE IN FABRIC

To determine the amount of material needed, take your tree and similar to the poster board, start at the corner and roll the tree over the material, essential measuring out how much you’ll need. Leave half an inch extra along the side to easily glue closed, and also about an inch extra on the top and bottom.

On the top, you’ll take a small stick or something long and thin and tuck the material into the little opening. For the bottom, you’ll carefully glue the material to the inside lip of the cone, completing the tree!

You can quickly make up a few sets of these in under an hour! And let me warn you, it gets addicting! There are so many different kinds of fabric you can use, and also lots of other materials, like the feathers I mentioned above, to decorate them with. I also made a few extra of the pink sequined fabric ones and styled them on our  Christmas shelf.

GET THE KIDS INVOLVED!

If you prepared the cones ahead of time, these Christmas trees would be a great craft for kids to use for their own room decor. Set out some glue sticks, fabric, sparkles or sequins, feathers, you get the idea! Let them have a blast personalizing their little paper Christmas tree set.
