One of my favorite things to do after the holidays is buy discounted holiday decor! Everything Christmas goes on sale December 26th, and every year, I head to the store to collect a few new pieces for next year! This year, I decided to buy up some ornaments and make a few wooden ornament trees! I think they turned out great, so follow along for a step by step on how I created this DIY!

First off, grab some ornaments! Then, buy or build your wooden base shape. It can be any shape you want, but I decided to ask my uncle to build these trees! Unfortunately, he didn't take any photos for me, but with a few angled cuts, wood glue, sanding, and stain, you can make them too!

The first thing I did was lay out all of my ornaments into a design I was happy with. I didn't glue anything at this point, I just arranged to make sure I had enough materials and to make sure I had a plan I knew I would love the outcome of! I put a layer of large ornaments down first and filled in with smaller ones.

Once I was ready to go, I guled down the first layer of ornaments. The first layer on the small tree base was smaller ornaments as well. I worked with 3 sizes, and the large tree base was able to fit all three, while I only used the smaller two sizes on the small tree.

Once your first layer is down, start hot glueing the second layer on! You can make this as 3D as you want! I glued the bulbs into the other bulbs for a 3D effect.

Then, I added in the smallest ornament shape for even more filler! I liked the contrast of the three different sizes as well. I thought the smallest ornaments made the largest impact!

Remove access glue with a tool as you go!

And enjoy! I kept messing with it to make it perfect, which you're welcome to do! But once you're at a stopping point, you've now got two new discounted decor pieces for next season!
