Pine Cone Tree - A Simple Holiday Craft!

Ready for a little crafty post? This was super easy and not too expensive and the result is really pretty. Honestly, many of my crafts are total fails but this one is a keeper! All of the materials were purchased from AC Moore and I had my own bag of dark pine cones that I added. Simple, pretty and fun!
Materials:
  • 1 foam cone shape
  • 2 to 3 bags pine cones with berries
  • glue gun
  • spray snow foam
  • 6 sprigs red berries
  • 1 red cardinal
I purchased two of the bags pictured plus added my own (darker) pine cones that I already had.
Basically, it's like a game of Jenga where you stack and glue the cones onto the foam base.  I would take each one and try them out first in different places to get the right fit and placement prior to gluing on.
Using the larger cones, start from the bottom and as you work upwards, gradually decrease the size of the cones.
I used the smallest cones on the top.  This keeps the shape of the cone and tree.
To fill in any empty spaces, I took the sprigs of red berries, the cinnamon scented balls and the smallest pines cones and glued them into any open spaces.
The foam base that I purchased was white and I used the spray snow to give all of the cones and berries a white touch so it all blended into the white base.
Here is the result!  Very easy and fun craft for the holidays! Interested in the dining room decor? Click over to the blog and search "Dining Room".

The sweet little bird looks pretty perched on top. He is a clip-on Christmas tree ornament.
Here you can see how spraying the snow gave the berries and the darker cones a softer look. It all blends now and the white foam base is not noticeable wherever it slightly peeks through.
I like the variety of the different size cones. Honestly, it was pretty fun fitting them all together - like a pine cone puzzle!
It also smells pretty good because the bagged mix was scented. A very nice plus!
A great addition to my dining room holiday decor! For more DIY Christmas inspiration click here! You can see the progression of my dark and dated family room to the lighter look now...Family Room Christmas Decor

I love this project and I’m going to have my granddaughters make one for there mother for the center piece of her table. I’m going to add a string of those tiny white lights that are battery operated to give it a great look for a sit down elegant table
