Are flocked Christmas trees messy?

I've seen a lot of great ways to do DIY flocking on your Christmas tree to give it a new look for Christmas, but I'm worried about the mess. What is the least messy way to get a good flocked tree like the picture?

Hi Sarah,
You can find different ways to flock your Christmas tree here, but some of the methods are messy. If that's a concern, perhaps flock outside, then bring the tree inside? https://www.hometalk.com/diy/decorate/christmas/diy-flocked-christmas-tree-44722852
Also, if you're worried about mess after application, Hometalk has a great guide on how to stop your flocked tree from shedding here: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/decorate/christmas/how-to-keep-a-flocked-tree-from-shedding-44456225
Hi Sarah, they are gorgeous, but yes can be very messy during setup and take down. I do this with bare feet as the flocking sticks to material really well! I believe it slows down some after having the tree for a few years, but honestly, I love mine! And not so messy once it's up.
You can buy flocking in a can and spray your tree. It may be messy, though!
Hi Sarah: Yeah, they're messy, but you can try to spray them with hair spray to keep the flocking from falling off, but, yeah, messy :(
I've never had one myself but I think it's safe to assume it might get messy when touched, set up or taken down.
My sister used the spray orange peel for texturizing ceilings. She sprayed it outside, because that's going to be a big mess no matter what you use. Once she brought it in, very little feel off. Less than my high dollar flocked wreath that I hang on my front door.
Yes, they tend to be messy, though the commercially flocked ones seem to be less messy than the diy-flocked ones.
If you buy one already flocked the flocking lasts longer and is less messy most are sealed somewhat after flocking which means less mess.
Hi Sarah! If you are worried about the mess, you can just put down a tarp or dropcloth under the tree which will help catch some of the shedding and residue from the flocking process.
Yes, they are messy, both the store bought and the diy ones. The store bought probably has a sealer on it to minimize the fallout. Use a drop cloth to control the powder.
Hi Sarah, hope this helps you. first you clock it

Then seal it.
Sealing the tree is essential to reduce the dust and shedding of flock from the tree. To seal the tree, you spray it with a mixture of glue and water. Once the tree is flocked and sealed, allow it to dry for at least 24 hours.
