Here's what I am doing now, but for adults. Put well-washed bing cherries in a very clean 1/2 pint mason jar. fill jar with brandy and lid. keep on kitchen counter for at least a month turning/shaking every day. in meantime make any pretty jar lid cover (i cross stitch xmas related, you can try xmas fabric even gift wrap)
also had small pretty bottles for limoncello.
for families try cookies or cake mixes in mason jars. see Pinterest jars ideas. you can put together spa items, hair care, mens could include golf balls and tees, or fishing lures etc.
