How should I arrange my furniture for the holidays?

Debbie, I think your furniture is okay.

Maybe add some poinsettias, and and maybe some decorative boxes under the tree. Some cute xmas pillows.

I would arrange the furniture so it more conducive to a conversation grouping and not lined up along the walls.

Ha! The shape of this living room and furniture placement are nearly exact to my living room! I hate my living at Christmas because finding a good place for the tree and grouping the furniture drives me crazy! I redo it about 3 or 4 times until I finally end up with the tree in the same place it always is...in the corner by the white lamp shade! You go also put the tree in front of the other window/doors where the chair and plant are. It is nice to be able to see it from a big window. Even if you did put it in "my" corner--you would still be able to see it if the big window faces the front of your house. Good Luck! I am waiting to put up my tree until mid December!!

I more than likely would put the tree at the other end of the room in front ot the other window unless that is the only place you can have your TV. How about the opposite corner from the TV? I am a corner person. You wouldn't believe how many ornaments and time you save by just decorating the sides that show!

If you want to keep the Tree in front of the window, you could put the 2 small chairs next to the tree, one on the left and one on the right. I don't know how big your sofa is but I would put it in front of the other window and the TV on the wall where the sofa is now. The recliner in the middle as you enter the room but more to the left side with a lamp for reading. You have a white piece of furniture next to the small chair on the right of the and I don't know how more space you have there to make this possible. Good luck with whatever you decide. We all have these challenges during Christmas.

I would Place it ya the end windows where the single chair is, place the chair near the standing lamp or lamp table in the right corner. Where is your tv? Aim everything toward tv. Conversations will go well with a well placed tv. Th entree is an accent. Don’t block the view of the huge windows.

I would put the tree in the corner where the lamp is. I would put white candles in the picture windows. The tree is especially for your enjoyment and it will be so much fun to have it to itself. I could pull the sofa away from the wall and float it to face the tree/tv area, Just turn your rug to anchor the sofa and put the front feet of the sofa on the rug. A small coffee table or even bench would be nice in front of the sofa and you could add more decorations on it. You'll have to mess with the chair and lamp to get them just right but once the sofa and tree are moved you will have some flexibility. Hope this helps and by the way, your tree is beautiful!

I like shifting furniture around. Some times it works some times it doesn't. If you want your tree to stay where it is and the TV to stay put try switching the couch and the recliner. They don't have to be square to the wall. The couch can be at an angle.

Your carpet is a bit small for the room. It looks like you are using it to keep people from scuffing the floor up by the couch. It's small size the dark shade of the walls makes the tree and the wooden chairs look like they are floating. Even the high curtain (I would do the same for that view) adds to the odd balance. You have white and blue walls and tree. Every thing else looks like they are browns. The furniture placement may be fine you just need to move some color. Another rug to ground the furniture. Some of your blue, like a throw or a pillow on the couch. Something under the tree besides the white fabric, blue would be better to ground it. It's a beautiful room.

I got tired of trying to please the people outside, and now the tree is in the corner. It's not pushed up against any walls, so you can still walk around it, and I do decorate it all around, front, sides, and back. Started that like 10 years ago and won't ever display my tree in my bays windows again. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TYPE OF CEILING IS THAT? I LOVE IT!

how about garlands around the window frames and a festive area rug. I think Christmas garlands are so easy to personally decorate with berries, pine cones, or anything you desire. Christmas smells and music round it off

Put the tree in the opposite corner from the TV. Place the armchair between the tree and the TV with a decorative cushion or throw. Making a reading or "hot chocolate" nook. Move the sofa down, and the smaller chairs in front of the window to create a conversation grouping.

I would play with the tree which is decorated lovely and see how it looks in the corner as it may not fit but either place I would add timer battery lighted garland alone the top of the curtains bth windows or if you prefer L shaped lighted ones on the corners I would rather the entire top be covered and with blue accents keeping in line with your colors. Tie a ribbon in your colors around your lamp shade you can do this diameter and it does not have to have a bow again personal preference or vertically as well I use this method a lot at Christmas. Reposition your Christmas cactus. And that chair by the sun porch door. Some times I have to move things out for this season. I agree a cocktail table or we love our cocktail ottoman in front of our sofa. We love putting our feet up. With a tray or mirror on it to hold drinks or a decorative treasure that you can change with the seasons or your whims. One last idea is Christmas up the window frame picture on the wall behind your sofa with a small bit of garland or white magnolia, berries, or a mitten ornament ornament or something just just to holiday it up a bit.
