Same way as you do with your inside tree. Just make sure to use the correct power cords and protect the plugs from rain and snow.
Get Multicolir Solar Lights. This is much easier, less costly and those are designed for outdoor use.

Regarding Dwp's comment to get solar lights:
The brightness of any solar lights after dark directly depends on the extent to which the solar sensors inside the lights are in direct bright sunlight. It is unlikely that the lights if mounted on a tree, will be adequately exposed to sunlight for a long enough time to 'recharge' before it become dark again.
I have not read any promising reviews yet on holiday solar lights, so I would advise you to not waste your money.
I really like the net lights. They go up so easy and they are always spaced out perfectly. Of course, if you're wrapping a branched tree they won't be appropriate, but they work great on evergreen trees.
