That's a great site Janet gave you and it goes without saying ball size would be up to you. Several different sizes would be cute and spray painting would be easy.
Do you have lots of fallen leaves or newspaper/ You can use large lawn bags, spray paint and and even tie or tape to make shapes. If you want more permanent, you will need to cut plywood, find large storage containers, industrial discard, large boxes behind grocery/mall stores and work with them.
I've seen them sculpted from chicken wire and then covered in lights. The more the better.
