Help create Christmas gift out of something "old"

Recently, my grandmother passed away at the ripe young age of 99. When we were cleaning up all of her belongings, I came across a set of "Old Maid" cards that my siblings and I played with when we were young and stayed at my grandparents house. There are 44 cards, included are 21 matches, the Old Maid card, and the Introduction card. I'd like to include my dad in this gift too. Between my siblings, my father and myself, that is 6 of us. I want to come up with a creative idea to incorporate these cards into something crafty for everyone for Christmas. Suggestions?

What about coasters? You could decoupage them onto blocks of wood?

@Amy Grotelueschen Reed I'm totally into keeping things in the family,I love that you want to do that, I'm also into keeping OLD things in original state… How about sharing a few cards with each person in the family, Dad getting the 'Old Maid' of course, then as someone passes on,his/her cards are shared as equally as possible, until one is left with the deck… then they can start with the next generation and so and so forth, this keeps Grandma's cards forever in the lineage of her family…

I personally would keep the pack complete, but would make good quality photocopies, and use the photocopies to make either ornaments or coasters for each member of the family. That way you will be able to pass the original set on to the next generation of your family.

If you split up the deck, make memory boxes and include a couple of the cards with other childhood/grandma - relAted items.

I would search the photo albums. Take a childhood pic in a frame with the card that matches the age each of you are in the picture. Maybe use old school photos?

Hi, I personally would make good copies and frame all 44 of them, maybe 4 frames with 11 in each, and do that for each siblings and you dad.If you buy Dollar Store frames, it wouldn't be that expensive and they would be in a gallery grouping. That way everyone can enjoy the whole deck. I definitely wouldn't break up the set. Maybe pass that on to your oldest. Good luck and be sure to post pics when you've figured it out.

My inlaws saved EVERYTHING! After they passed shadow boxes were made using all kinds of small memorabilia- cards, tickets, thimbles, matchbooks, small trinkets, small greeting cards, all kinds of stuff. One was given to each family. We love ours. It hangs in our study, and invokes wonderful memories.

Make a printed copy of a collage of several cards. Then then create memorable words for each family member of something your grandmother used to say, place on top of card print and print again. Frame for special memory gift for each family member.
