Salt Dough Ornament Garland
Happy November Friends!!
This year I decided to change my Christmas tree colors to hunter green and white. As most of y’all know, Christmas decor is EXPENSIVE! Because of this my tree is (was) a tad bare so I decided to make a few garlands using an easy salt dough recipe. I’m not a baker (like in any way!!) so when I say it’s easy… IT’S SUPER EASY!

Lets make Salt Dough Ornament Garland
Items needed:
- Flour
- Salt
- Water
- Cookie Cutters
- Rolling pen
- Twine
- Optional items: Paint, glitter, or rub n buff to decorate; wood beads, old linens or drop cloths.
Combine 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 1 cup of water. Flour you hands and knead the dough. Roll the dough into a ball. Flour your surface and your rolling pen (REALLY GOOD so the dough doesn’t stick to everything).
Roll out the dough and use cookie cutters and cut out ornaments. For the holes to thread the twine though I used a straw. Lay the ornaments out on a cookie sheet and bake at 170 for 3 hours. Let cool for an hour.
After your ornaments have cooled for an hour you can leave them or decorate however you want. I used antique rub and buff on these.
Finally, thread the twine through. You can tie them off or tie before and after each ornament.
I made 3 different garlands this year:
Salt dough ornaments only
Salt dough ornaments and wood beads
Salt dough ornaments, wood beads, and torn old drop cloths
I also added burgundy and this champagne color because I wasn’t totally feeling the green alone.
