Ho Ho Ho!! In no time at all, you can make simple Santa chair covers to create a fun and festive holiday table!! Using felt and straight stitches... create a chair cover perfect for any jolly old elf!! I LOVE that this pop of Christmas red decor takes up no space and adds a darling touch to the dining room!!
I made these cute Santa chair covers a few years back. They are such a wonderful way to add a pop of red!! I love that they take up no space...
I used felt for Joann's Fabric and Crafts. Did you know you can but felt by the yard?? You can!! Most fabric stores sell it by the yard and also by the square for smaller craft projects. The amount of felt needed will vary depending on the size of the chairs you are covering.
Measure the width of your chair. Measure the length you plan to make each chair cover. I chose to have my chair covers go about half-way down the back of the chair. You can make your chair cover as long or as short as you desire. Be sure to multiply the amount of fabric/felt for one chair by the total number of chairs you plan to cover. For my four chairs, I used 2 yards plus a little extra for seam allowance.
This is the general shape I cut out for each chair cover. It resembles a pointed pillow case. Cut out a front and a back piece of felt for each chair, making sure to leave an inch seam allowance. With wrong sides together, stitch around the chair cover in straight lines. Leave the bottom open.
Here is my quick visual tutorial on stitching a Santa chair cover.
Once the chair cover is sewn together, turn right-side out and add a band of white felt as an accent if desired. Add a pom pom, or sew a tassel made of white felt strips at the point of the hat.
I slipped the Santa covers over each chair... bending the extra felt over to mimic a Santa hat. Do you love holiday decor that doesn't take up any space ?? I do!! You might want to visit this Hometalk Post too: Easter Bunny Chairs

I also made some, but I don't really like mine. Do you have any suggestions on making something different with them?

The tree napkins were inspired by a post I saw on the computer. Just google Christmas tree folded napkins. Lots of choices. I tried a few before I decided on the one I liked. Very easy!

Somone else loved the idea too because I bought 8 of these last year at the DollarTree for $1.00 each. The grandkids kept taking them off and trying to wear them so they are not only cute, they are entertaining as well.
